At Arthur’s Court, we can provide nursing, palliative and residential care for the older people in a homely atmosphere. The dignity, independence, personal choices and wishes of residents are our number one priority. We enable people to maintain lifestyles that are as similar as possible to those enjoyed at home. We encourage regular interaction with the local community, including contact with friends, family and local groups.
We aim to empower residents to make their own choices about how they live their lives.
We believe that every individual irrespective of their physical, social or psychological condition has the right to be treated with dignity and respect and supported to maintain choice and control over their own lives.
We understand that people bring with them a life story of achievements, events and life experiences. We know that this information is essential to ensure a tailored care package for each individual’s specific needs, particularly for those with memory loss.
We ensure that our person-centred assessments are all tailored to the whole person and we will look at what people can do, not just what they need assistance with. Most importantly we ensure that the individual themselves and their loved ones help us to put together a bespoke plan of care. We appreciate how difficult the decision is to move into permanent or even short stay care and we aim to make this transition as easy as possible.
Arthur’s Court has 40 bedrooms and most have ensuite toilet facilities. Each room has a telephone point (chargeable at BT rates) to enable people to keep in touch with their family and friends. Residents are also encouraged to bring with them their belongings and items of furniture to make their room feel more homely and familiar.
We also have a well maintained garden at the back of the home where residents can enjoy the outdoor fresh air during the warmer months, as well as continue any horticultural hobbies they have.
We believe that leisure and social activities form a central part of people’s happiness, health and wellbeing. Our team offers 24 hour nursing support and provides a wide variety of leisure, social and recreational activities for the people that we support.
Our activities co-ordinator plans one-to-one sessions and group activities which include trips to local garden centres, cathedrals, and other care homes. We also organise singing events, discussions about the local area, and fetes, and relatives are invited to be involved. A chiropodist visits every six weeks, and other medical specialists visit on a regular basis.
Meal times at Arthur’s Court are an important part of the day. Our experienced catering staff prepares a menu of home-cooked food every day, and we cater for individual likes and dislikes from a cultural, religious or choice perspective.
We understand how essential the food we serve is tasty and nutritious. It’s important to us that the residents are kept happy and comfortable, and as such, our catering staff are more than happy to prepare meals and beverages whenever the residents wish and at any time of the day.
Our residents enjoy home-cooked and freshly prepared meals each day using locally sourced ingredients where available. The homes clinical nutritionist and catering staff work together to ensure that the meals prepared are both balanced and healthy without compromising on taste. Family and friends of residents are more than welcome to join us at mealtimes should they wish to.
The homes chefs and dietician have taken great pride in designing a varied menu that caters towards both conventional and alternative tastes and will always strive to fulfil a specific request. Quality assurance surveys from both current residents and their families consistently show highly positive feedback about the quality and choice of meals provided by the home.
