Sunnyside is a well-established residential home located within a short walking distance of Chard town centre, Somerset, and is only a few minutes drive from the A303, A358 and A30. The grounds are fully wheelchair accessible and provide ample parking for visitors. The rear of the home is where residents can enjoy a peaceful and private garden complete with a large fish pond housing a variety of colourful fish. The garden also houses its own chicken coop. During the warm season, the home promotes outdoor activities, so that the residents can benefit from the more suitable weather. The attractive shrubbery and the homes own herb garden provide a delightful backdrop to pass the time. At Sunnyside, residents can enjoy an active lifestyle and are encouraged to pursue personal interests and pastimes. The home engages a weekly activities program, which is available to view in the main lobby, helping to provide stimulating and pleasant surroundings.
Our team, consisting of the Home Manager and carefully selected health care staff, will always ensure residents recieve the best quality of life. Sunnyside has a total of 13 rooms, all of which are tastefully decorated. Your room is your own private space and we’d love you to make it as homely and comfortable as possible. So why not bring your treasured personal mementos and furniture with you to give it that familiar feeling.
Whatever your preference you’ll find all the rooms to your satisfaction and some come with private ensuite facilities to ensure your complete privacy.
If you like keeping up with the latest news we will be happy to purchase your choice of daily newspaper on your behalf, and you can of course have your own TV to watch in your room whenever you want. Keeping in contact with friends and relatives from the comfort of your room couldn’t be easier too as we will happily install your own private phone line, if required (chargeable at standard BT rates).
At Sunnyside we offer a wide range of activities designed to encourage residents to keep mobile and most importantly an interest in life. Activities are organised by staff for e.g. draughts, bingo, cards, quizzes, exercise activities, coffee morning in town.
We also have musician that visits the home twice yearly putting on a show. At the rear of building there is a courtyard with a central pond feature, chicken coop, flower beds and a herb garden which are maintained by residents & staff. We also have a Christmas party, summer barbeque and other events.
Sunnyside makes every effort to enable service users to attend religious services. A regular multi-denomination service is held at the home and offers holy communion if required. Service users can attend any service of their choice outside the home and transport can often be arranged for this.
Arrangements can also be made for all faiths to have pastoral visits within the home or to attend services outside.
We understand how essential the food we serve is tasty and nutritious. It’s important to us that the residents are kept happy and comfortable, and as such, our catering staff are more than happy to prepare meals and beverages whenever the residents wish and at any time of the day.
Our residents enjoy home-cooked and freshly prepared meals each day using locally sourced ingredients where available. The homes clinical nutritionist and catering staff work together to ensure that the meals prepared are both balanced and healthy without compromising on taste. Family and friends of residents are more than welcome to join us at mealtimes should they wish to.
The homes chefs and dietician have taken great pride in designing a varied menu that caters towards both conventional and alternative tastes and will always strive to fulfil a specific request. Quality assurance surveys from both current residents and their families consistently show highly positive feedback about the quality and choice of meals provided by the home.
