Introducing

Awarded Care home of the year in 2019, Sunnyside Residential Home is a charming home that is spacious and ideal for residents with a wide range of care needs, staffed by a qualified team who respect all individuals involved and are welcoming to visitors.

Sunnyside’s main objective is for its residents to live their lives as independently as possible and be treated with the dignity, respect and compassion that meets their individual wishes, needs and capacities. The home prides itself on providing complete peace of mind when it comes to care, comfort and happiness.

Alongside professional care for older people, residents are encouraged to live an active lifestyle and pursuit personal interests. The home benefits from a quiet garden with a fish-pond as well as regular in-house events and visiting entertainers.

The home also provides respite and convalescence packages, all carried out with respect for the privacy and dignity of individuals, and with support for a healthy community integration.

In 2017, Sunnyside Residential Home received the coveted award from carehome.co.uk recognising it as one of the top 20 Care Homes in South West England.

Sunnyside has a total of 13 rooms, all of which are tastefully decorated. Your room is your own private space and we’d love you to make it as homely and comfortable as possible. So why not bring your treasured personal mementos and furniture with you to give it that familiar feeling.

Whatever your preference you’ll find all the rooms to your satisfaction and some come with private ensuite facilities to ensure your complete privacy.

If you like keeping up with the latest news we will be happy to purchase your choice of daily newspaper on your behalf, and you can of course have your own TV to watch in your room whenever you want. Keeping in contact with friends and relatives from the comfort of your room couldn’t be easier too as we will happily install your own private phone line, if required (chargeable at standard BT rates).

At Sunnyside we offer a wide range of activities designed to encourage residents to keep mobile and most importantly an interest in life. Activities are organised by staff for e.g. draughts, bingo, cards, quizzes, exercise activities, coffee morning in town.

We also have musician that visits the home twice yearly putting on a show. At the rear of building there is a courtyard with a central pond feature, chicken coop, flower beds and a herb garden which are maintained by residents & staff. We also have a Christmas party, summer barbeque and other events.

Sunnyside makes every effort to enable service users to attend religious services. A regular multi-denomination service is held at the home and offers holy communion if required. Service users can attend any service of their choice outside the home and transport can often be arranged for this.

Arrangements can also be made for all faiths to have pastoral visits within the home or to attend services outside.

We understand how essential the food we serve is tasty and nutritious. It’s important to us that the residents are kept happy and comfortable, and as such, our catering staff are more than happy to prepare meals and beverages whenever the residents wish and at any time of the day.

Our residents enjoy home-cooked and freshly prepared meals each day using locally sourced ingredients where available. The homes clinical nutritionist and catering staff work together to ensure that the meals prepared are both balanced and healthy without compromising on taste. Family and friends of residents are more than welcome to join us at mealtimes should they wish to.

The homes chefs and dietician have taken great pride in designing a varied menu that caters towards both conventional and alternative tastes and will always strive to fulfil a specific request. Quality assurance surveys from both current residents and their families consistently show highly positive feedback about the quality and choice of meals provided by the home.
